Yark Nissan Announces 3-Year Partnership with Dave’s Running Shop
As Official Presenting Sponsor of the 2018 to 2020 Sylvania Triathlon at Olander Park and Tam-O-Shanter
Toledo, Ohio – March 5, 2018 – As part of its mission to support the development of a healthy lifestyle within the community it has served since 1981, Yark Nissan is partnering with Dave’s Running Shop and Run Toledo as the Presenting Sponsor of the upcoming 38th, 39th and 40th editions of the Sylvania Triathlon. The 2018 Sylvania Triathlon will take place on August 4 and August 5 at Olander Park and Tam-O-Shanter Sports Complex in Sylvania, Ohio.
“We’re thrilled to again be a part of one of the oldest multi-sport events in the country. After the success of last year’s event, we knew right away we wanted to renew our partnership with Dave’s Running Shop to support their lead in the local fitness and lifestyle movement,” said Eric Stewart, Yark Nissan General Manager.
The Sylvania Triathlon is a multi-sport event made up of several disciplines for individuals of all ages and abilities. All events are USA Triathlon Sanctioned events with certified courses and hundreds of volunteers and staff working to maintain a friendly, safe and enjoyable experience all weekend. “Supporting the development of our youth is important to us and we’re happy to announce that Sylvania Southview Athletic Booster Cougar Club will be the beneficiary of this year’s event,” said Emily Yark Reny, Community Relations Manager at Yark Automotive Group. “Our partnership with Yark Nissan is key to helping with the many logistical requirements for this type of event. It also helps us increase the regional popularity of the Sylvania Triathlon, and bring more weekend visitors and business revenue to Northwest Ohio,” said Clint McCormick, USAT Race Director, Run Toledo.
Starting at Olander Park on Saturday, August 4, kids from age 7-14 can compete in the SuperKids event, consisting of a triathlon (swim, bike, run) or a duathlon (run, bike, run). Following, there will be a 0.5 mile fun run for children age 3 to 6 on Olander’s enclosed drive. Parents are welcome join their kids in the fun run.
Following the SuperKids event, Tam-O-Shanter Sports Complex will host the Multi-Sport Expo and packet pickup, open to the public at no cost. “We invite the community to attend and learn more about this event, and check out one of the display Nissans. There will be speakers at the Expo for questions and answers, as well as the opportunity to signup as a race-day volunteer,” said Jim Donaldson, USAT Race Director.
