Dave’s Turkey Chase 5k Run/Walk

Guaranteed Event Shirt & Early Pricing Runs Thru November 15
Toledo, Ohio – November 11, 2015 – On Thursday, November 26 at 9:00a.m., Dave’s Running, in conjunction with Run Toledo, Candu Creative, WTOL 11, FOX 36 and Schmucker’s Restaurant will present the inaugural Dave’s Turkey Chase 5k in downtown Toledo to benefit the local non-profits, Cherry Street Mission Ministries and Hannah’s Socks. The field is limited to the first 3,000 people to enter.
A $30/person entry fee through November 15 includes a guaranteed commemorative event shirt. Rates increase to $35/person and shirts are no longer guaranteed from November 16 through November 26.
In addition to the low entry price for individuals, family pricing options are available for anyone wishing to register as a group. A minimum of 4 people can register for $90 through November 15. Additional people can be added at $22.50/person. The price increases to $100 (and $25 for each additional person) on November 16.
The first 1,500 people to cross the finish line will also receive a commemorative coffee/hot chocolate mug and certificate for a free pair of New Balance socks, redeemable at any Dave’s Running location.
Schmucker’s pie age group awards will be presented to the top five male and female finishers in each five year group. There will also be awards for the first three male and female runners to the 1 mile marker, top male and female overall finishers, and top male and female overall master’s finishers.
The day’s events will begin at 7:30 a.m. with check-in and race day registration/packet pick up, followed by a kids fun run at 8:30 a.m. The feature 5k Run/Walk begins at 9:00 a.m., followed by refreshments and photo opportunities. Dressing in your favorite Thanksgiving apparel is encouraged, but not required. Registration shows that families are already coming together from across the country to take part in the event.We are asking that each person bring socks for Hannah’s Socks, canned goods for Cherry Street Mission Ministries, and fitness shoes to donate. There will be drop boxes setup in the WTOL parking lot for each. The 5k course is a loop course through downtown Toledo. Starting on Summit St at WTOL 11, heading south, turning right on Monroe St. past Fifth Third Field, followed by another right turn on Huron St. going past the Huntington Center, Across Cherry St., to Bush St, turning right, then back down Summit St. to the finish in WTOL 11 east parking lot.
Ample parking is available at the Vistula Parking Garage at Cherry St. and Superior.
In addition to the 5k, a free kids event is planned. Kids, age 2-12 can run a 1/4 mile or 1/2 mile loop on Summit St., near the start line. This event will start promptly at 8:30am. All kids finishers will receive a commemorative ribbon. The kids run is free, but all children must be registered and wearing a race BIB to participate.
If anyone is worried about the early morning, November weather, Dave’s Running will have free disposable gloves available before the race. They can be dropped at any water stop, or in the finish area and we’ll pick them up. Otherwise, they wash well and can be used at future events.
