This really depends on your race morning ritual. We do suggest to plan to arrive and park an hour before the event to give yourself plenty of time to pick up your bib if you still need to, warm up and use the restroom.

Be sure to bring your race bib if you picked it up early and wear it on the front of your outermost layer of clothing. You probably will also want running shoes (unless barefoot is your thing), sunglasses, a handheld water if you want and excitement to run.

River Run has a common start and finish meaning the start line and the finish line are in the same place. This is on Summit Street in Downtown Toledo right in front of Ostrich Towne.

We recommend parking in the Vistula Parking Garage located on the corner of Summit and Cherry but there is also ample street parking around the downtown area.

The River Run course is 4 miles through the heart of downtown Toledo.

As of the 2026 running, this course is not certified.

We love movement. This course does have a 90 minute course limit which is about a 21 minute per mile pace making it walker friendly.

There are two water stops on the course. Around mile one and mile three.

There are restrooms available at the start/finish line as well as many park restrooms and porta-johns for other Fourth of July festivities along the course.

Children are encouraged to participate as long as they are at least 6 years old on race day.

Yes. This race offers prize money to the top 3 male and female finishers, top male and female masters and grandmasters.

Yes. The top 3 finishers in each 5 year age category win an award with the first place finisher in each age group also getting a certificate for shoes.

Immediately. You will be able to scan the QR code on your race bib once you finish to see how you did.

We get wet. We will not cancel or delay the event in the case of rain.

We will work with our local meteorologists and delay 30 minutes. We will also communicate with our law enforcement agencies to ensure a safe course. All information will be communicated clearly by race staff and volunteers during the event and also via email and text message updates.

We have never had to reschedule or cancel an event due to extreme heat. Before making any decisions we would consult with our medical director. We have added additional water stops on the course and will encourage participants to slow down.

At the post race! We have breakfast burritos from Riverside BBQ and beer from Molly's Irish Tavern.

Downtown Toledo has many different events happening on the Fourth of July (link Desitination Toledo page or somewhere they are all listed).

We recommend breakfast at one of the restaurants and a stroll on the River Walk along the Maumee River.

We think so! There are multiple hotels within walking distance of the starting line and many events happening in and around Toledo including games from the World Famous Toledo Mud Hens.

Fourth of July is the second biggest running day of the year. Many people have made this event a tradition when they come home to visit family or friends or family come into town for the holiday.

River Run's course is largely along the new River Walk along the Maumee River and within the beautiful Glass City Metropark. You will also get to see some of the beautiful murals that have been painted on buildings along the river. You will experience a large race experience with a home town feeling. We think our participants, volunteers and staff are what make this race unique.
