OUR CURRENT OPEN POSITIONS

DRS Timing is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Race Timing Specialist to join our growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a passion for running, cross country, and track & field who is eager to work with cutting-edge timing technology and provide an exceptional race-day experience.

Key Responsibilities

As a Race Timing Specialist, you will be primarily responsible for the accurate timing and scoring of road races, cross country meets, and track & field events. This includes:

  • Race Timing & Scoring: Utilizing the latest timing technology, including the Race Day Scoring platform, to accurately score and report results for various endurance events.
  • Equipment Management: Setting up, troubleshooting, and breaking down timing equipment (antennas, mats, clocks, computers, etc.) at event sites.
  • Client Communication: Working closely with race directors and event organizers to ensure their timing and scoring needs are met.
  • Data Integrity: Managing and inputting runner data, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail in all results.
  • E-Commerce Support: During non-event weekdays, you will assist the Dave’s Running Shop E-Commerce division with tasks such as order fulfillment, inventory management, and other related activities.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Passion for Running: A genuine interest in and knowledge of road racing, cross country, and track & field is a significant plus.
  • Technical Aptitude: Comfort working with computer software, hardware, and learning specialized timing technology. Prior experience with Race Day Scoring or similar timing software is a bonus.
  • Detail-Oriented & Hard Working: Must possess exceptional attention to detail to ensure accurate results and a strong work ethic to manage the demanding nature of race events.
  • Physical Stamina: Must be able to stand on your feet for several hours at a time in various weather conditions and be able to regularly lift up to 65 pounds (timing equipment, boxes, etc.).
  • Availability: Must be available to work weekends as this is when the majority of events take place. Scheduled days off will occur during the week.
  • Transportation: Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.

Job Type: Contract
Location: Toledo, Ohio (Various Race Venues)

DRS Timing is now accepting applications for Race Day Field Specialists to join our growing team for the 2026 race season (May-September). This is a hands-on role that requires early mornings, the ability to troubleshoot under pressure, and a no worries attitude. You are the reason thousands of runners cross the finish line safely and receive accurate results.

Key Responsibilities

1. Equipment Setup & Breakdown

  • Loading/Unloading: Assist with loading and unloading vehicles carrying race gear, including tents, tables, barriers, and aluminum structures.
  • Start/Finish Line: Deploy and dismantle the start/finish line infrastructure, including truss systems , inflatables, and signage.

2. Course Operations & Logistics

  • Course Marking: Drive the course to deploy mile markers, directional signs, and water station signage.
  • Crowd Control: Place road cones, barricades, and directions signs to secure the course and direct runners, vehicles, and spectators.
  • Aid Stations: Assist with delivering and setting up supplies for water/aid stations as directed by the Operations Manager.

3. Technical & Timing Support

  • Technical Assistance: Assist the Lead Timer with running wires, ensuring generators and power sources are functioning for the timing system.
  • Troubleshooting: Act as a communication point on the course, reporting and assisting in the resolution of any on-site technical or logistical issues (e.g., faulty equipment, misplaced signs).

Must-Haves (Qualifications)

  • Availability: Must be consistently available for early mornings on Saturdays and/or Sundays. Race events typically require a start time between 4:00 AM and 6:00 AM.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and repeatedly lift and carry equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Work Ethic: Highly reliable, punctual, and capable of following detailed instructions independently.
  • Transportation: Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to race sites within the Toledo area.

Bonus Points (Preferred)

  • Familiarity with the Run Toledo event schedule and local race culture.
  • Mechanical Inclination: Ability to use power tools, build structures, and think on your feet to solve or troubleshoot situations.
  • Experience in event management or working in a physically demanding, fast-paced outdoor environment.
